The Southwest District Health Immunization program serves to promote public health through the identification and
elimination of vaccine-preventable diseases. Vaccines work to protect infants, children, and adults from illnesses
and death caused by infectious diseases.
In an effort to protect the citizens of Southwest Idaho, Southwest District Health provides vaccines for all children
from birth through 18 years of age. We also provide immunizations for adults and individuals interested in foreign
travel.
Vaccines prevent disease in the people who receive them and protect those who come into contact with unvaccinated
individuals. Vaccines help prevent infectious diseases and save lives. Many harmful diseases, once common in the
United States, have been controlled by the use of vaccines. Common vaccines used today prevent diseases such as
polio, hepatitis B, measles, diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough), rubella (German measles), mumps, tetanus, and
Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib).
